Nom nom at Korean BBQ

I'm the one behind the camera ;)

Exams "sort of" ended today. Thus, me, Camille and Xinyi had decided to head down to our favourite korean bbq restaurant located in Toa Payoh central, the restaurant is preferably known as Big Bang to us due to the fact that it used to play Big Bang songs on replay for hours.

Anyway, we had a wonderful time there again. The standards and quality of meat there became better since our previous visit in May. I love the fish. Finally, they finally had fish after...so long! The last time I had fish at Big bang was in October last year. And the subsequent times I visited, they didn't have fish anymore. I didn't know if it was because of the cost or shipping matters but boy am I glad that fishes are back and never tasted so good before. They are sliced thinly, translucent and very sashimi-looking. Once grilled, they tasted pretty darn good. The beef slices are so very tender and yes perhaps it's just because I'm the one behind the grill mending it since I dislike tough meat, I usually do not grill it further pass medium to well done. The beef short ribs were pretty great too. I love the rice cakes, corn & veggie salad with light dressing and the honey sweet potatoes. But the kimchi pancakes that I have craved for wasn't seen so I was a little sad. But overall, there wasn't anything too much I can't handle.

However the only concern for me was the broth. It wasn't as tasty as before. Maybe it is due to it being plainly just water now and that we've to build it up from scratch. And so yeah, I only wished it had still been the stock broth. But...I guess we can't always have the best of everything.

In conclusion, yes it was yet again another pleasant experience at Big Bang and yes we all left the restaurant with bloated stomach.

(Side note: Growl album released today! I've heard Lucky and XOXO, I love them both. I shall do a review on the album once it arrives. -excited-)

So till the next post people, have a wonderful evening!

Reaction; EXO Growl

Korean Version.

Chinese Version

It was released on August 1, 00:00 KST. I stayed up late that night, not for this, I was glad I did regardless because I got to see the Music Videos which became the reason for my lack of sleep the next day. -facepalms-

So I love this new song of EXO's because it's a totally different genre of music altogether from the rest of SM's regular Dubstep these days. Wolf was one of those creation, that's why it sounded only decent to me because it wasn't anything original anymore.

Imagine my surprise when this song came out, sounding so old school and chilled out. I love love love it. But then again, I've never hated or disliked any SM artistes' songs so I might be biased on this.

Anyway, I personally prefered the chinese version because...Chen had a beautiful screen time around 1:06. I literally squealed on my bed, when everyone was asleep. No kidding how much Kim Jong Dae affects me LOL, okay maybe not that exaggerated but...you catch my drift.

So the choreohraphy was...impressive. Usually, these choreography are reserved for SHINee, because they are known to perform the most complex and crazy choreography ever every single time. Think Sherlock and Dream Girl. I love Sherlock's choreography and it really brought their song to a whole new level. Kudos to SHINee. (Side note: SHINee is coming back once again! With Misconception Of Us.) This is going to be their 3rd full length album this year, wow, talk about a crazy schedule, I mean after releasing two full length korean albums one after another, they went to Japan for their Japan tour in June, and are coming back again with another album. Not that I'm complaining since I'm an SM stan so whichever artistes are to come back, I would be delighted of course! But I think they need a break...and where is Super Junior's come back SM?! Okay, I know Hero is a great Japan album but...it's too expensive...for shipping and...it just costs almost 3 times the amount of a regular album SM. Money suckers you.

Back to EXO, I can't wait for their real Music Video for Growl to come out because I believe this is just their dance version of the video. Come on, I saw the teasers, they had black and white leather and chains outfits with cool close ups! And where's the drama version part 2 of wolf SM.........................................so yes, I am just not satisfied with these two music videos but I guess they'll have to make do for now. Overall, I like it. But not to the point of crazy for it because I'm still waiting for their real music video to be out. And yes I ordered Hug version of Growl because I love the chinese version of what EXO does everytime so Chinese version it is. Crossing my fingers that the photo card I get would be Chen!

AR: EXO's XOXO Kiss&Hug

Hello folks! I've just received EXO's new album XOXO Kiss&Hug versions today. I know I'm a tad late because they had already just came back once again in less than a month with their new repackaged album, Growl. But hey, I love them so I'm still getting their albums regardless of whether if it's late or not! However, I doubt I'm getting Growl anytime soon since I'm broke now but no worries, I'll get them eventually and hopefully review them too.

For those who don't know anything about EXO, they are a group of 12 Korean boy band. They debuted in April 2012 and are gaining huge popularity wholewide. What can I say? SM seriously knows how to promote their artistes. Despite how much I dislike how unfairly SM treats them. -hmm- well, so, EXO is made out of EXO-K and EXO-M, with K promoting in Korea and M promoting in China. They recently made an album together as EXO and boy, I really love this EXO together thing because they looked best as 12. EXO-K members, Kai, Sehun, Suho, D.O., Chnayeol and Baekhyun. EXO-M members, Luhan, Chen, Kris, Tao, Xiumin and Lay.

Just a slight note, all pictures are taken from my trusty Samsung Galaxy S3 camera so it isn't DSLR quality lovelies.

Kiss & Hug

I really love their new concept. It's fresh, and ideal for these boys because they are still in their late teens and early twenties, hence there isn't any need to worry about them being awkward in school uniforms and posing like school students. But hey, I believe that SM artistes can literally pull anything off. Anyway, back to topic, the albums are made of cardboard-like paper, kind of like a year book style thing. I like it because I think that EXO pulled it off pretty well and that these flower boys are out to impress, with both their strong vocals, cool choreography and of course, superb looks. I doubt that anyone can deny that all of them are pretty handsome, especially my bias, Chen. Sorry, I just had to mention my dear Jongdae. I'm a 100% fan girl for his high notes and stunning jawline. So well, as you can see from above, the above are pretty simple looking on the outside but I promise you, it's a whole different world on the inside.

Oh yeah, Kiss version is in Korean while Hug version is in Mandarin for those who are confused about why I bought both albums.

This is the middle of the book and it is home to this beautiful CD and a group photo of EXO.

Close up shot of the CD

It's really pretty isn't it? The doodles and handwritten words and the myriads of colours all over the CD. It just looked like how a young kid would have decorated a blank A4 sized paper. Really impressed and love love love it.

These are some snippets from the album itself.

I must emphasize that people who are EXO stans, this is a must have album. Beautiful concept, creative and extremely stunning. EXO have even written down the song lyrics to ALL their songs in the album. If you buy the Kiss version, you get korean lyrics while for the Hug, its in mandarin.Handwritten, authentic, awesome. Yes I sound like some sort of crazy fan girl now but seriously, get it. You'll thank yourself later for getting it because the snippets I gave you guys are like 3% of what's in the album itself?! SO, you get my drift!

I love a few of their songs in the album, but I also have some neutral feels to a few others but overall, there wasn't a song that I disliked. So it's good. My favourites were Baby and Baby don't Cry. I prefer ballads most of the time compared to more upbeat ones, but Peter Pan is a medium tempo one that I favoured. Wolf was decent while the rest for me were just neutral. So yes, I still strongly stand my ground on getting this album!

In a nutshell, I love this album and is still planning to get Growl, which was set to release tomorrow. I really want it but hmm I'll get it soon. Wait for me Growl!

P.S.: I just order Hug version for Growl. AGHHH WHYYYY.

Don't we all want something?

I am going to start off this post with my wish list! Yes, don't we all have things we desire? If you don't, kudos to you for being so contented and satisfied with life. But if you do, we share the exact same sentiments buddy. These are my top 10 items on my wish list and I'm sorry that I couldn't go more than 10 because com'on, as a girl myself, I will start rambling on about every single thing I saw on the streets that's pink and want it!

1. Nikon J1 (Pink)
I have always wanted a camera, despite having a smart phone with passable camera, I just want a professional camera to myself for photography purposes. I had wanted to be a photographer once when I was young, haha. Everyone wanted to be someone when they were young, ambitions changed so frequently like how we use to change our diapers. So photographer was one of mine, but I had never gotten sick of taking photos that forever stills one moment in life for appreciation. For that, I wish for my very own camera, and it's pink! Yes, frilly girly colour for me thank you.

2. Skin product that helps my face
I have terrible blemishes on my cheeks. Life of being a girl is tough, and having red flushed cheeks and inflamed forehead isn't making it any better. So, I need something that helps with it because...I've tried ways to get rid of all these annoying bumps yet........................................I surrender.

3. Coloured Jeans
Yes, I may seem a little girly and frilly but I love jeans. I love wearing shorts and jeans and leggings. I rarely wear skirts and dresses except when I have school. And I love prints, colours and exotic out of the world stuff on my clothes. I just have a weird fetish for stuff like these. Blame my love for kpop, british hipsters for these!

4. Mp3
Oh my god, I've wanted my very own mp3 player since forever. I am not kidding or exaggerating. I know people are going to say that I own a smart phone and all and that I shouldn't waste my money on such trivial wants....but.........................................I'm sorry..........I still want it.

5. Dye my hair
Mhm, it's seriously bugging me for a while now that I really want to have my hair dyed after my O' levels. Maybe red? Or gradient with pink tips? I don't know but knowing me...it might turn out it little wild and weird.

6. Pierce my conch and cartilage
I have two piercings on my right ears and one on my left. I want a conch for my right and a cartilage for my left. No, it's not because of any trends or fads I'm following, sorry to disappoint. I just appreciate such edginess and standoffish feeling that yes, I'm so getting it after O' levels. Try stopping me. HAHAHA.

7. Vacuum Flask
I've talked myself into getting a vacuum flask as soon as possible. I have weird preference nowadays that I can fathom sometimes. I used to only love cold beverages but now, hot ones are creeping onto me! So yes, I need a vacuum flask for my daily dose of hot tea or milo when I'm heading out anywhere like school.

8. Yonanas Machine
I need this. It's obvious from the moment I laid my eyes on this machine that I knew I had to have it. I love fruits and ice cream. But ice cream and healthiness just don't walk hand in hand together. So, to satisfy my ice cream cravings but still be healthy, I need this machine! Yes.

9. Sports shoes
I know I don't exercise or work out or run as regularly as before but I promise that after my O' levels, I'm heading back to fitness again. So most probably I would need a proper pair of sports shoes to help me along in my fitness journey.

10. -I don't know-
I shall leave this empty for now because I really don't have anymore things I really wish to have........so..........

So here, I'm done with my wish list, cheers for me! Well, I hope I've entertained you guys here so, I shall see y'all soon. :)

Back to blogger!

It has been quite a while since I have even taken time to sit down in front of my computer table to blog. I can still remember clearly that back in my primary school days, blogging was an "in" thing, especially on blogspot and adding all sorts of new widgets and funky gadgets onto the blog. All the time spent solely on looking a blogskin that suited to my taste and adding in my favourite music, that was how I grew up.

However, trends come and go. Before I knew it, twitter, facebook, instagram and tumblr became the "in" thing instead. Not many continued blogging at blogspot or wordpress, tumblr was the new black. I admit, I became part of these trend followers too. But, despite having followed all these trends and thoroughly enjoying all these websites that had offered, I just missed writing and expressing my thoughts on blogger. A free space, a blank canvas for me to tell my stories. So I came back. And yes I am here to stay.

Mhm, most of my entries would be centered around my life, food, kpop or books. Sometimes a little this and a little that. I want a blog that says me, that leaves my imprints on it so, I've decided to not focus on only one thing for my blog. So to not only show my way of life, but also me, Valerie.

Okay I know I know, I've spoken too much yada yada yada. So I shall end my first post here! Stay tuned for more updates!
